Countdown - 69 days to go!

Hooray, day 2 of the countdown, and I've done a post (it would have been bad if I hadn't got to day 2 wouldn't it!).

However, my obsession with Angelina fibres has continued.  Once I get started with them, I don't seem to be able to stop.  And why should I stop, they are fabulous to play with.

I decided to continue with the technique I showed yesterday, when I made the free standing cone.  This time I dug out a battery operated string of tiny LED lights.  These are already pretty, but I made tiny Angelina cones to fit over each LED light.  I punched two holes in the top of each cone using a hole punch, to thread the wire and lights through each cone.  A twist of the wire at the top of the cone, holds each one in place.  I've had them on a few hours now, and they are perfect:

Angelina fibres only bond to each other, so that means you can "trap" other things in them.  Experiment with this, as it really can change the look of your finished piece.  I created quite a thick sheet of fibres and trapped some silver metal flakes, and some white snow flakes:

Sandwich in between greaseproof paper and iron both sides.

I actually over ironed mine, on purpose of course (!!), you will hopefully see from the photo, the part that isn't burnt shines more than the part that has been over-heated.  However, I still liked the result, so still used it:

I created a thicker sheet as I wanted to die cut the fibres.  If they are fine, a regular die will have trouble cutting them.  The thicker sheet cuts well, but I did add a shim.  I used a lovely die from the Sue Wilson collection, it's the poinsettia collection.  I used the full die set with the angelina fibres, and then with the frame dies I just cut plain white card stock.

Glue them together, and then I popped a brad through the center.  My brads are so old!  These are from a kit I used to have when I worked at QVC.  This is why us crafters don't chuck anything decent away, stuff always comes in handy.

Cut your ATC card to size, I used red card, then a smaller piece of white card, which I embossed and added a touch of gilding wax.  Glue the poinsettia in place, and then add a little Christmas message.

To finish, I added a little glitter glue.

Two down.......

MacMillan Coffee Morning

Kathryn, Carley and me have decided to be part of the MacMillan Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning, which is a fabulous way of raising money for MacMillan, having a good get together and an excuse to get crafty!! Oh yes, crafty crafty crafty.

We have yet to confirm the venue, but that will be done by the end of the week. Now, although its called a coffee morning, we will actually have to have a coffee evening! I know, breaking the rules already, rebels. The date will be the 24th September, we will be serving coffee, tea, a cheeky wine or two (rude not to), cake, maybe home-made chutney (you might be saved from that one though), courgette soup (haha, can tell who's got courgette plants on their allotment, glut or what) - wonder if I can make courgette cake!! I'm also thinking selling crafty goodie bags, doing make and takes, and should we throw in a party game as well - damn fine idea for pass the parcel, you are never to old for that. Musical statues!!! Yeh, from coffee morning to kids party in the flash of an eye.

Anyhow, enough of my waffle, that's the plan so far. How exciting. Obviously all proceeds will go to MacMillan. Recon it's a good idea to bring along your ATC's to trade as well. Party!!! xxxx

Flickr update

Well, I have been a busy bee on sale stuff, but as I can't share photo's of what I'm up to with you yet (surprises!) so instead I'm going to put on a photo of an amazing piece of soap! Bought it for my sister who has just got a new job as a little congrats pressie. It's all soap - really. In the smell of Raspberry cake. We went to a brilliant shop when we were in Hebden Bridge, the things they made with soap were all completely edible (but not of course, unless you want to froth).

Anyhow, on a crafty note I have managed to finally upload photo's to the flickr account, of some wonderful creations by some of the members of my ATC club (click the link on the right-hand side). It's taken me ages to get them loaded, couldn't find my password - and it takes so long. I'm up to date on that score at least (phew), just another 30 things on my list to crack on with then.

Can you believe how much it has rained! I know it needed it, as our allotment was dust, but all the seeds I sowed yesterday will have washed off to next doors patch. Back to the muddy trenches tomorrow!

ATC Club Members - change of addresses

Hi folks. QVC was good today, lots of bargins to be had! I've now whipped of the heels (no-one see's them, why do I bother!! And my feet were made for "proper shoes"), and am settled in my jammies - ah the glam of telly!

For those of you in my ATC club I need to let you know about the change of address to send your trades to. I'm sure most of you will know Dawn and the Topaz team have now moved into the design studio, so post should now be redirected there:

Dawn Bibby Design Studio & Store
Market Street Works, Market Street, Church, Accrington.
BB5 0DP

Alternatively, when I was raising the charity money I did set up a PO Box so you can now also send your ATC post there (please only use this for ATC things, not orders or anything for Topaz). This address is:

L Pujol
P O Box 1027
Canterbury
CT1 9GW

Seems abit silly having it there all empty and sad. Lets fill it with lovely letters. The benefit of this will be I can collect the letters a little quicker, and it helps the girls up North who have to sort through all the mail to make sure there arn't any customer orders or letters to Topaz.

Well, I'm off to do some ATC's this evening......hooray.
