The Crafty Countdown - 31 days remaining

Today my cousin Robert and Sadiah get married.  I'm so excited - and wanted to make their wedding card so it matched their invitation.  This is the real reason yesterday's post was so late - and why I had my evening meal with the most horrendous blue finger nails!!

This is the beautiful invitation

I played around with a lot of different inks to try to get the colour tone.  The one that worked was Adirondack, Denim.  I decided to then stamp in Versamark, and cover with mica powder, to get the pearlescent sheen

You can see the differences in the colour and finish.  It's definitely worth experimenting.  It took me quite some time!

I used low tack tape to mask of the area I wanted to work in.  I don't generally do this, but I knew working with the direct to paper technique, and such a dark ink - I'd get messy!

And look at that ink!!  I went direct to paper, as I wanted the intensity of the ink

I sponged the ink to blend it in (sorry, I'm having issues and haven't time to mess!! I'm going to be late for the wedding!!

I then stamped in versamark

And added the mica powder.  Given more time, I'd have played more with this, but time was not on my side!

I love this stamp, which I stamped and embossed in gold

I masked the end of the sentiment so I could over stamp

I stamped the peacock feather, which I stamped and embossed.  I then added a little acrylic paint, similar to the invitation.  When you paint if you go over the embossed lines, use a wet paper stub to remove the paint.

I covered the end with vellum, which I cut in the same shape as the invitation

I also decorated the inside of the card

This photo is rubbish.  I added glitter and gems

This is the finished piece

And the inside.  Sorry for the photo quality, but I've 5 mins to go and my face to put on!!
