46 days still to go...back in the game

Happy New Year everyone, and lets hope 2016 is good to us all, and exciting!

I'm so sorry I didn't do my blog post yesterday.  I would like to say it was because of a horrid hangover...however it was literally down to feeling horrible still.  We did have a good party, and a few glasses of fizz, and I managed to get up for a walk with my friends and the dogs to the beach - but by the time I got home I was fit for nothing.  I gave up, had Night Nurse, and, thankfully, a good nights sleep.  I'm now on day 4 of not having a voice.  Can you imagine, me without working vocal cords.  It's driving me mad.  There are loads of people with the usual winter lurgy, so I know I'm definitely not on my own.  Anyhow, at least today I felt like crafting - and blogging.

I was chatting about the stamps I decided to use, just the other day.  I'm not sure who I was chatting too, unfortunately.  These are lovely stamps from Hero Arts, and were so popular when I worked at Dawn's shop.  Honestly, we couldn't keep them on the shelves.  They are classy, and beautiful.  And the reason I love stamps, they are such a good investment.  They last such a long time, and still look fabulous.

I wanted to do something different for the background again, so picked one of my masks:

And stippled through it using Tim Holtz distress paints.  This will give a lovely stippled effect:

When you remove the mask, it does look really effective

However, look at all the lovely paint left on the mask

As a crafter, there's no way we can leave this paint.  So, I spritzed it with water

I then placed a piece of card over the top and pressed it down to soak up the paint

and then, there's the paint left on the mat!!

I had a stamped image that was just sitting there, so I dumped it onto my mat

Love this!  I blasted it dry with my heat gun

And then matted it onto the background I created, as the colours will match perfectly.  I then stamped a sentiment.

I then got my lovely Hero Art stamps ready

And stamped one onto plain white card

I also stamped the image onto some of the scrap which has part of the paint on.  I much preferred this to be honest, as it had more interest.  I coloured the hat in with a glitter pen.  I then decided to stamp the Style is Eternal stamp along the bottom of the card, and added paint and glitter

Which I completely fell out with, and decided to chop it off.  I mat and layered my image using craft metal, which can easily be textured with embossing folders, or just scissors

Now, I layered the sentiment, and the image, and added a ribbon knot to the left, and little gems at the bottom of the card

See, it looks much better at the bottom of the card now doesn't it.

Hi Leonie, what a masterpiece! I love how you wrote about falling out with the paint and glitter and you cut the bottom off, it just made me laugh. Trial and error in everything! Seeing your step by step stages it takes me back to school where you used to mix your colours in a slap happy way. From start to finish, you have made a wonderful masterpiece at the end and I thought it was gorgeous! I would love to receive this x All the amazing colours that you used were so bright and cheerful. Cheery to look at on a cold day. Like you, it is the dreaded cold and sniffles time, so you get better with a tot or too in a cup of tea....purely medicinal of course! lol :) Thank you Leonie. It's my first time here although I do see you on Create and Craft. I so love your enthusiasm and excitement about different things. Get well soon and take care xx Love Karen xx

I love anything by Tim Holtz. I've just finished collecting his colours of 2015; paints, inks, reinkers and pens to go with the rest of my collection. I love the effect that water has on them. Hope your voice is back soon and that you're feeling more human. Happy New Year.

Hi Leonie - Hope the voice and health improves . I had forgotten what a talented crafter you are - I just read this and previous blogs and can't wait to try some of the techniques.
It will be so good when you get to Hochanda - I hope you will be crafting in your own style and not just presenting others .Take care Jx

Hi Leonie

I hope you have your voice back now and are feeling much better.

I love the "do not waste anything" projects you have made and lo and behold I spotted the same set of 4 lady stamps that we talked about when I met you recently.
I am cleaning out and decorating my craft room so when I come acrossmy set I will not put them in the giveaway box and give them a new lease of life. Thanks for the inspration

Hi Leonie love what you have done with the card. If I hadn't liked the bottom it probably would have gone in the bin so top marks for perseverance. Hope your voice is better today. Best wishes Jackie x

Sorry you still not well, missed you yesterday. I had the bug over Christmas and had no voice. Sure my family was pleased!
Love all these different backgrounds and making sure that you don't waste any of the paint. The final card is amazing as is having you talk through your thoughts as you work your way through making the card, even when you fall out with something. We get a view into Leonie's mind- a lovely ,crafty place to be!
