Masking - one for Emma

As the lovely Emma twittered that she had read the masking instructions a few times and was still a little stuck - I thought I'd do one on here. It's not as complex as the card I posted yesterday, but it's the same principle.

I have used the inkadinkado stamping gear range, the circle cog and the new butterfly garden stamp set. I have also used the beautiful stamps from PaperArtsy (the range from Sara Naumann, which I absolutely love).

First stamp the butterfly onto a post it note - near the top so it hits the sticky bit:

Now cut out the butterfly, cutting through two layers of post it's so you have two masks, I haven't been to precious with this one as you will see:

Place your stamp on your paddle and stamp around your gear. Plan where you are going to stamp before committing. I stamped in distress ink, salty ocean, on each of the open triangles on the cog.

Now, the masks come in. Place a mask on the top butterfly's, the one to the left and right of the first gap. Now, ink your stamp using distress ink, picked raspberry, and stamp in-between each gap.  Every time you have stamped, move the mask that covers the butterfly furthest away. Place it over the next butterfly on the right side of the next space:

When you stamp with the pink, because the blue butterflies are covered up it means you will stamp into the gap and not over stamp on your blue image. The results are fabulous:

This will be a little thank you card sent to on of my lovely customers, so I just finished it with ink round the edges and the word "play".

The lovely stuff I've used is all available on my web site:
