Gran

Sorry not felt like blogging this last week.

My Gran passed away yesterday - thankfully peacefully.

I'm very proud of my Gran, and sad we missed alot of time together following my mum and dads divorce - silly how things work out with families isn't it. Arn't we all very childish and petty! Lessons learnt yet again, but importantly we all made peace last year - and thankfully I saw my Gran when she was alert and chatty, which I think made her happy too.

Anyway, I'll pop on a few cards in the next couple of days to let you know I'm still working (of course!).

In the meantime, this is my Gran, rest in peace:

Leonie
I am so sorry to hear this and am thinking of you and your family. I know the Debra charity well - we raised money for it a couple of years ago at our work as a workmates child had it.
I am so glad you managed to seal the family bond again and have precious time with your Gran xx

Thank you everyone for your comments, I have many happy memories of my Gran when I was little, and know she helped me understand how we need to respect people with disabilities from being a little girl. I wish I had a handful of her strength and resolve. I'm so glad the Debra charity has been so successful - it meant my Auntie's suffering was not in vain, and my Gran really made a difference to provide help for other children like Debra.

Sending you healing, warming, comforting and strengthening thoughts, Leonie.

I have a past connection with one of the 'butterfly' girls - her story is on the Debra site.

Thank you for bringing us this news - the pride your family must feel will help you all through.

I do hope there will be some well-earned pieces in the press over the coming weeks as such a life of dedication to others is deserving of many mentions.

So sorry to read your news Leonie. Glad you got to spend time with her recently though. My own parents divorced and I never saw my paternal grandparents after that. I always found that sad. Your gran sounds a wonderful woman. ((hugs))

Sorry to hear your sad news Leonie, my thoughts are with you.

Yes people are very silly and childish at times and it causes rifts in families which are sometimes never repaired in time. I speak from experience regarding my mother and my eldest half-brother, very soon after my younger half-brother's passing in 1965.

It was a double sad time for me because I lost two brothers more or less at the same time because of a silly little argument which was blown out of all proportion and I was only 9 and a half at the time!!!

It's better to forgive and forget.

Lots of Love to and yours at this very sad time.
