Sorry, I have tried to post my Challenge but the stupid photo's will not load. I have tried it twice and now the button to upload photo's isn't working. Grrrr. So annoying, especially when I'm rushing around trying to leave the house for Uni. Stupid blog site.
Anyway, good news, my book has been listed in the awards given in Crafts Beautiful!! How exciting. Don't want to twist anyones arm BUT in order to vote you need to register on the Crafts Beautiful web site for their newsletter, and fill in all the enteries for the competition.
I'm chuft, and really suprised to be up there with the nominations.
Gosh, need to get a move on...

Fab Friday Challenge
Hey, noticed I'm early!! Hooray. Well I had to be, it's my first day at Uni tomorrow (oh heck, getting butterflies now), so for once I'm being organised.
This one is a little easy, and the title is
Something Stripey
For this ATC I cut a Christmas Tree from an Anna Griffin stripe paper, which I then used to mat and layer onto my card. I backed the tree onto white card so it would stand out, and wrote Merry Christmas down the side.
Little baubles decorate my tree, which I've attached to the card using silicone glue which allows me to tilt the bottom of the trees out creating movement.

Fab Friday Challenge
Phew, found the camera battery charger (it was in a safe place, not an obvious one though I'm afraid, under my stand-up mirror!!). Anyhow, I've managed to take photo's of this weeks challenge, which is:
Fibres and Fings
I've used Angelina fibres, mixed with felt and wire. You can use any type of fibres, in anyway - so have fun cutting up your old jeans, or stamping on a serviette.
For my ATC this week I used yellow, green and gold angelina fibres, just a thin layer, then added some dark green felt some of which I left quite thick. I folded over my angelina fibres so they trapped the felt, and then covered the sheet and went over quickly with the iron (always better to do a quick iron then you can check if the fibres have bonded. If you over-iron the fibres will loose some of their sheen). The felt, as it does not bond with the angelina, will be trapped, but not flatten, therefore producing an uneven and textured finish. I folded the sheet in to make a rectangle (of sorts), ironing the folds to bond the fibres.
Once I was happy with the shape I cut my ATC from a wire sheet. I ironed a sheet of angelina to the back of the wire, with the rectangle on the other side. Some of the fibres bonded, but to secure the rectangle properly I wrapped a few strands of the angelina from back to front, and ironed to bond.
I then cut a heart from a tighter knitted wire sheet, and pocked to holes in the top which I threaded a thin wire length through. I covered the heart with Versamark ink then covered with ultra thick embossing powder, three layers of clear then sprinkled a gold then a green Opulent Opals embossing powder and melted. As the heart is made of wire the powder goes through to the back, so both sides look really pretty (good for making Christmas Decorations). Keep adding powder and melting until you are happy with the look.
Using the wire lengths, tie the heart to the metal sheet, allowing it to stay raised. I then picked up the word "friend" from a piece of newspaper using the UTEE, and melting this to the corner of my ATC with a gentle heat gun, so not to burn the angelina fibres.

Fab Friday Challenge
Well, if you have read my earlier post you will know that I was inspired by the kit and colours I have been working on today. For this weeks challenge the title I have picked is:
Punch Power
You can use a punch, pre-punched images, or the silhouette left from punching. The punch can be your focal point, or create your frame.
I have used my petal punch and built up a full flower (please see previous post if you haven't already). I attached the flower onto my ATC card using double sided tape, and trimmed off the overlapping petals. I used my QuicKutz to cut the centre circles out and added a small rub-on in the centre. To decorate the flower I have used Liquid Pearls (really easy to use and dry slightly raised with a lovely pearl sheen).
I hope you like it and again apologise for my lack of blogging over the last week.

Fab Friday Time
This week is another one where I've had a little play, this time with a set of stamps coming up on QVC (been on before but back in stock). The title of the challenge is:
Flower Chains
I've used the stamps to create my flower chain, you can go for stamps, decoupage, stickers, die cuts - whatever you have that's flowery. The chain can be the main focal image, or just an additional embellishment on your card. As ever, I really look forward to seeing your wonderful designs. I've done an almost step by step instruction with photo's which I hope some of you will find inspirational.
I used yellow paper which I gave a part wash of white acrylic paint to the left hand side:
Ink up your stamp, covering the stalk and leaf so you are only applying ink to the flower head. I used yellow Distress ink for the first application. When the image has been stamped use a water brush (or a paint brush with water), to drag the ink into the flower:
Layer colours by re inking your stamp and over stamping the images. Do not worry if the images are slightly out, as this gives a shaded effect. I used Adirondack Terracotta then Espresso, layering each and dragging in the colour until I was happy with the effect:
Finally I have cut a card image of a lady, which I colour tinted round the edge. Cut a few flowers so the image will slot behind them. Add a little shading with a colour pencil. To create a frame using the Espresso ink pad add ink around the edge of the card:

Fab Friday Challenge - the return
It's back, I've cheated and used cards I was making at the weekend, but I like them so thought it would be nice to share them with you all whilst incorporating the challenge.
Highlights
The challenge is to highlight an element on your ATC. I have created my cards using spritzer inks and stencils. Spray the inks directly through the stencil, then pick up the ink from the stencil with another card, thereby creating two gorgeous backgrounds with one application. I have then stamped directly on the card with my
mysterious lady stamp. The part highlighted is her face, which I created by stamping onto a piece of white (or cream) card, and cutting out the face. I added a little ink so the card wasn't to stark, and attached this over the face on my ATC. This allows the face to stand out from the rest of the stamped image and card, therefore highlighting it. You can try this with your stamps, try highlighting an element of your card by framing it, or adding a clear epoxy sticker to an area. It's up to you how you wish to highlight your chosen element, I look forward to seeing your creations - it's been ages!
The stamp I have used is by Creative Expressions and the reference is oasis1117F
The spritzers are from Crafty Notions (available direct or from Topaz), I used the ones that have a fabulous pearlescent sheen, combined with a bright and vibrant colour. Lovely.
The templates are doodle templates, again from Topaz or Crafty Notions. They are great as they have so many different elements you can use to create a variety of looks. I love working with things that are over sized for your ATC, this makes you look at the project differently. Try working with the stencils you have for making great backgrounds. A shameless plug, but I have done this technique in my book - obviously worth looking at (haha!!).

Fab Friday time.........
It's challenge time again, of course with it being a twisted week I had to stick with this theme, so I've used only the top sections of my twisted pyramid sheet for my ATC (using the larger sections would have been to big, this way I can get an ATC and a card for my trouble!). I had a decision to make as to the actual challenge title though, twisted, decoupage or "fitting something big onto something little" (the last one needs a little work with the title I recon). As decoupage is sooooo popular I thought I would go with that, so:

However, to make it a little trickier I would be really impressed if you did have to chop your decoupage to actually fit it onto the ATC, and therefore altering it a little (it could be really funny if you had headless flower fairies!! haha, that's my kinda decoupage). Anyhow, I'm looking forward to seeing your wonderful creations as ever, and please do not feel you have to stick to shop bought decoupage sheets, you can use wrapping paper, patterned paper, even a cool magazine picture photocopied a few times - go for it.

Fab Friday Challenge time.....
Well, as I've been getting tomorrows show ready I had to choose something that I had been working on. Bit tricky, as there's the moonglow and quite a few other bits and bobs I could have gone for(shouldn't give everything away should I!). The kit I picked eventually is a gorgeous paper kit by K&Co. The papers are fab, and I love working with them as they are double sided, so you can chop them up to make the most of the print on each side. This weeks challenge is titled:
Pretty Piece of Paper
What I would like you to do it try to get as much as possible from your piece of paper! Either choose something with a fantastic print which you can cut out and decoupage, or paper with brilliant texture. Try to make your ATC just paper crafting, try to avoid stamping, peel-offs etc. I'll let you have a bit of ink (just because I did!! haha), and things such as 3D glaze, chalks etc. If you have some beautiful paper this will be easy (I'm sure we all have fantastic paper). If not see what you can chop out of a magazine, wrapping paper or even wall paper. As usual I really look forward to your contributions.
For mine I used a backing paper which was slightly heavier for my ATC, then a double sided printed paper. I layered the plainer side of the paper directly onto my atc, first tearing it so it just covers half of the ATC. I then cut out some of the flowers from the other side of the paper and layer them on using micro dots and various depths of 3D foam to give variation in dimension. Added a little distress ink, and bob's mi uncle.

Fab Friday ATC Challenge
Well this time I was inspired from my lovely weekend at Kew Gardens, so the theme is:
Recollection and Receipts
Sounds abit fancy, really what I want you to try this week is using a receipt, ticket, programme etc from somewhere you have been and decorate it, or use it as part of your decoration. Give life to your old bus ticket, or preserve the memory of a great day out on your ATC. We get receipts and leaflets for everything, and some are lovely. The one's we received at Kew Gardens have a lovely picture on the back, which I used for the top of my card. The "Kew" part has been torn from the second ticket and I've taken the date off the card as well. I've hand drawn some trees, and colour tinted using Distress Inks.
Now I was going to make a second card, dug out the stamps to use and everything, with the receipt from the butterfly exhibition at the Natural History Museum. However, I have discovered if you iron them they turn black!! Could only find one receipt, so that was the end of that. Suppose that's why it's a good idea to photocopy them and use the copy not the original. I know, I know, I just didn't!! Duh.
I hope you like the challenge, it's not a tricky one and gives you a chance to look at your bits and bobs more carefully before they are recycled.

Fab Friday (early!!)
Okay, I know it's early, but I'm being organised. We are at QVC tomorrow, there's a TSV (I haven't seen it yet - tut!!). Thankfully it's not to long a day for me. Dawn is on this evening, well tomorrow morning, but I do not have to go in until sensible times of tomorro morning - the theory is that I'm wide awake for the whole day.
For the challenge this week I have choosen:
Chop and Change
I want you to cut up your ATC, then but it back together again. This can be done before or after you have decorated the card, and you can put it back in any order. You can do a mosaic style, chop it in half, diagonal etc. You can use any style to decorate the card, as long as you chop it up!
I have done two, the first one was easy just cutting an ATC in half after pasting a newspaper cutting to it. One half was trimmed down smaller, so then I put them back together again, the smaller half would show some of the card underneath. The second one I have cut out the centre section, and left it out. I used inks to colour tint my card, and a lovely Hero Arts stamp as my focal point.
Have a play and see what you can do with your paper trimmer and a bit of imagination!

Artist Trading Card Challenge - Its a Fab Friday!!!
Phew, did it this week (inbetween shopping for bargin ink cartridges on the net, ran out rather quickly when I started printing the Newsletters!!). I have linked it in with my Artist Trading Card Club Newsletter, and taken one of the theme's we are doing there:
Tone on Tone
For this theme you are allowed to use any colour, but only shades of that colour. It's quite tricky actually, as you need to make sure the shades co-ordinate and look good. The only other colour you are allowed to use is with your wording and that can be either white, black, gold or silver.
I used stamps from Banana Frog (I'm going to be doing a feature for their blog so I'll keep you posted when that's finished), and stamped onto red paper, using red Brilliance ink - so there is a slight pearlescent sheen. The tag has also been stamped, and finished with a red ribbon.
I hope this doesn't stump you, and you all join in.

Fab Friday new challenge
Phew, this is a rush. My sister is visiting this weekend and I have to meet her soon. Really excited, we are going to see the Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace (it makes me sing everytime - Christopher Robin went down with Alice do you know it?), Madamn Tussards, and the Ice Bar. Good eh!! Anyhow, enough of my babble, this weeks challenge. Now last week was abit quite, so I hope more of you join in. I have been working with fantastic paints from US Artlest. They are beautiful, in fact I picked the kit to go on QVC (not made many selections so it's quite exciting). I like the technique where you use your peel-off as a mask and paint over it, I've seen this technique done many times, but still love it. So I thought I would make an ATC. I didn't use the full peel-off image, and mixed a few different colours together to get a striking effect. I added a little glossy accents to half of the image, and threaded wire to add extra dimension. I hope you like it. Then I had to come up with a title for the challenge, I wanted it to be shadows, but thought that may be a bit tricky, so instead it's
Masking
Now, this is because I've used a mask peel-off image, and masked out an area from the paint, so a double reason. You can go for either, use georgeous mask images, or play around with the masking technique using your peel-offs, stamps whatever you fancy. I hope this one inspires you, and I hope the photo is a bit better this week!

Fab Friday Challenge
Hi folks. Well did anyone tune into Craftday? Anyone buy any treats? There was loads of things I wanted, why is it with crafters, even though my attic is creaking under the weight of my "stuff" there's still another range of papers, or crafty tool I need! I know I'm not alone in this, but there was tonnes of stuff I wanted. Love everything Heidi Grace had, oh and really loved all of Anna Griffin's stuff, and of course the TSV brought to us by Nancy Hill was lovely. I love craftday, loads of nice stuff, and lovely people to chat to as well. Really good fun. I felt so sorry for Nancy, Anna and their team - they were still packing when we were leaving which was at lease 12.30!! What a long day they had, especially after all that travelling. I'll never winge again and the two bags I go into QVC with, or the drive.
Anyhow, it's Friday so you know what that means (me running late again, supposed to be washing my hair at this minute in time). This weeks challenge,

Inspired by my white Staz-on pad which I've had ages and never used. I had a play stamping on both sides of acetate, so you get a mirror image. I really enjoyed this, and the results were quite quick and easy. Had trouble taking pictures of the cards however, so attempted to scan them. Not sure how they will look when they are loaded, so I apologise now if they are abit rubbish.

Fab Friday 7
Well this week I have a kit to work on designed with men in mind - and one of the stams was a guitar, this inspired me for this weeks challenge:
Music for the Heart
I'd like you to take music as your main influence (and you can sneak a heart in if possible). There are so many wonderful music printed papers, stamps and magazines to chop up if you fancy a little collage - so I'm sure you will have plenty to work with. As ever I really look forward to seeing your creations.
For my card (which I have just dripped orange juice on - duh!! Glad I took a photo of it first), I have taken my inspiration from a few different places. First Wendy, who made a wonderful ATC when we went to Portugal. She used wire and hung musical notes from it - really fantastic card, so that is where my thread idea came from. The heart was inspired by the lovely card by (which you can see if you have a look onn the Flickr account). I thought that was a great idea, so used it for this card. Thank you ladies for the brilliant inspiration.
For my card I made a pocket for my ATC, and cut a heart out of the front of the pocket. I colour tinted the card with Black Soot Distress ink and then worked out where I needed my thread, and how many lines I needed, then threaded embroidery thread from one side of the heart to the other. I then popped my ATC into the pocket and wrote the verse using the threads as my guide. I lightly spritzed the card (with the ATC in the pocket), using Moonglow. I liked this as it gives the whole card a shimmer, but when the ATC is removed from the pocket you have a nice shimmery heart. Allow the spritz to dry then doodle wiggles and musical notes on the front of the pocket and on the ATC. I added just a little colour to the ATC using a blue water pencil. Finally I stamped the guitar using Staz on, cut it out and applied glossy accents, which I allowed to dry then added onto the front of the pocket using 3D foam.
Go for it.......whistle a happy tune whilst you work.

Music for the Heart
I'd like you to take music as your main influence (and you can sneak a heart in if possible). There are so many wonderful music printed papers, stamps and magazines to chop up if you fancy a little collage - so I'm sure you will have plenty to work with. As ever I really look forward to seeing your creations.
For my card (which I have just dripped orange juice on - duh!! Glad I took a photo of it first), I have taken my inspiration from a few different places. First Wendy, who made a wonderful ATC when we went to Portugal. She used wire and hung musical notes from it - really fantastic card, so that is where my thread idea came from. Fab Friday 6 ?? (ish)
Phew, running abit late today (later than anticipated - had alot of trouble loading the photo's)!! I've been working, waiting for a parcel (which I missed - had to nip to the bank and that's when he came. I'd been in all day waiting, until 3 in the afternoon, grrrrrr. They wait round the corner for you to leave don't they.......grumble grumble). I've managed to print more Welcome pack leaflets (my chap who was doing my printing isn't, so it's back to my trusty printer - so I apologise now if they arn't quite as professional as I would like). Erm, even hung out some washing. Starving, so I'll stop the waffle and get this posted.
This week the challenge is
A little bit of Glitter
The two cards I have done this week are using glitter where I generally wouldn't. I'm working on a QVC kit, so have lots of big bottles of glitter glue, so had a play. The first card was made using paper ribbon, which I layered on using the glitter glue. I used two different colours, and made sure some of the fibres were left unglittered. Using light paper allows you to see the glitter underneath, so adds depth to the card. I then stamped on two pieces of the ribbon, and attached these to the card again using the glitter glue. I managed to find a clear sticker, with the definition of sparkle, then added two floral paper embellishments using silicone. I used ink to edge the card and create a frame. Oops, also twisted some of the ribbon and added this to the card which again adds dimension.
The second card was made using scraps from a newspaper. I picked out words to form a sentence, and used Gesso to cover the rest. Using acrylic paints I added colour and shade, and a few doodles. A paper wave was added to the bottom of the card, then of course a touch of glitter.
As usual I really look forward to seeing your creations, you can use loose glitter, or glitter glue. You can plum for a little, or a lot. This gives you the option to do something pretty, or something a little different.

Fab Friday Challenge 6
Hello again, it's Friday!!! That came round quickly didn't it. I hope everyone has had a good week. I was in QVC twice this week with Dawn and JJ. It was JJ's birthday on Wednesday, (Happy Birthday J, just in case your having a read). We went out for a lovely meal with Jayne on Tuesday evening, as Jayne has left Personal Impressions so it was a "congratulations on your new job, but sorry your leaving do". It was lovely to see her again and a really nice evening.
On the Wednesday Nicky and I had a day off. Went into Greenwich and had a brilliant Indian meal (lots of eating this week so far eh!). I treated myself (really shouldn't have, but needed a bit of cheering), I bought a batch of books for altering. Always worried that I wouldn't actually be able to cut a book up, so I choose one's that were very cheap and obviously needed some care and attention. Really got inspired, so hopefully I'll be able to have fun working on a new project. Also bought Banksy's book (Wall and Piece). It's fab. I love his work, the humour and the rebellion of it adds to the wonderful art-work. I'd definately love to see more Graffiti if it took the Banksy form, as opposed to just scribbly names everywhere. The graffiti that seems to odorn so many walls is just boring really isn't it, and just looks messy. Anyhow, I'm not going to hit the street with my paint cans, it's much to cold and I'd spend half a day looking at the wall wondering what to do, get bored and probably just end up buying a bag of chips and going home........
Anyhow, that's a quick update, and now for this weeks challenge.
Holey Moley
No adea what that expression means, or comes from, but I was thinking holes. So the challenge is to create something with holes. You can rip and tear your holes, punch them, use them as frames for something fantastic underneath.
I used my QuicKutz to punch the larger holes, then plier punches to make the smaller holes. I inked the edges of the cream card, and also inked the larger holes, then attached a ribbon round one section of the card, which I tied in a knot. I attached the holey card to a piece of green bazzil with 3D foam (and some silicone glue on the parts where the small holes were quite frequent. Attached a little piece of ribbon at the top with a large green brad, and then finished with some flowers which I also cut using the QuicKutz. I attached the flowers with silicone and finished with a little Stickles glitter glue.
Looking forward to seeing some of your creations.

Fab Friday ##4
This weeks challenge is
Could it be Magic
You can use anything magical - fairies, dragons, witches. I choose magical things for this week because of one of the kits I worked with for QVC. I loved it, so borrowed it and had a play. I'm not keen on my door, I would have liked to have played around abit more if I had a little more time, but had to grumble to myself and make do for now! (Otherwise all my other jobs will go out the window). Also, my computer crashed last week, and one of the programs I used for cropping my photo's has disappeared so my photo's are abit scruffy this week. Sorry. Hope you like the stamps I've used as much as I did - especially the Dragon, and hope you get inspired and send lots of magical cards.

I used Wizzard stamps from Woodware, designed by Francoise Read (available from Topaz crafts (quote FRCL038) or QVC number 586809). One card was used as the door, with the dragon protecting it - the dragon was stamped using staz-on, coloured using Le Plumes, white gel pen and Perfect Pearls to give a bit of sparkle. I made the hinges using little pieces of card attached with strong double sided tape. Inside is the Wizzards room, with the caldron, broom, Potion, frog and spider images. The background has been hand drawn and coloured in using water pencils and Le Plumes. The other images have been stamped and coloured in. A little Perfect Pearls was added, again to add that magical sparkle.

Fab Friday #3
Gosh, is it only the third week.....seems like I've been doing this for ages.
Well, this week I'm cheating a little, I'm pinching a challenge I did as part of the Club, but I liked it so much thought I would do it here as well.
The theme is: Recycle
You can use anything, as long as it is recylced - from bean can labels to shells. Some of the cards that passed through my grubby fingers when I ran this in the club were fantastic, and so creative.
I have used old newpapers and a magazine cutting. I love this technique, and it was the first time I'd had a play (I got the idea from Bernie Berlin's fantastic book Artist Trading Card Workshop - see her brilliant blog for order details). I stuck old newspaper print to a pre-cut ATC, then cut out a picture from the Sky magazine (knew it would come in handy). I covered the full card with a layer of white gesso, allowing some places to be lighter than others. When dry I painted over the image of my lady, changing the image almost completely (she didn't start out quite as goofy!). I then colour tinted the rest of the card with red and brown inks and stamped randomly using Staz on. The words "Little Dreams" where then cut from the paper and added using a good clear drying glue. Really enjoyed doing this card, such good fun.
