Weekly Catch up

Good afternoon crafters. I hope my update finds you in pretty decent spirits. I’m in a grump today!! But I’m attempting to pretend I’m jolly 😂👍. Hoping the pretence rubs off into reality!

It is much harder trying to remember what happened last week with no TV schedule to look back on! I have to rely on my memory which is, at best, appalling. So what has happened?

Last Sundays Facebook live I gave a sneaky peak at the new stencils. I love these stencils, they look so classy and the designs are timeless but definitely have a retro vibe. I do love the work from Khaki Finch and will definitely be bringing more of this to you .

On Monday we had a really exciting day as the whole Craft Colllective descended upon Highlight Crafts and took over. Sarah went first with Funky Fossil and had our Janice presenting. it was then my turn with Art Inspirations, and Miss P presented! Which was really good. Next. I also downed my presenting hat and Erica brought us Stampanory. The time flew by and the team did so well Highlight Crafts are really trying to give us a great platform..

Tuesday was a sorting day and then Wednesday I got back into doing my regular Let Leonie Loose spot at 3pm on Facebook and YouTube.

A lot of people have really appreciated the lives on YouTube as it means they can watch on TV, which is a lot nicer than watching on your phone or computer. Unless you’re trying to watch sneakily whilst at work!!

Thursday and Friday were days in the “office”! It is a lovely spot to work. I’m so lucky I got that when I did. Funny how things happen isn’t it.

Then Saturday I had a lovely day with some old mates from the original create and craft. We visited the Christmas market at Nottingham - which was marvellous. We did a lot of chatting and maybe a bit of shopping. I was good and only spent money in a card shop. On cards! Haha. I know, I know. What on earth. But funny/rude/insulting cards just make me giggle!!

The White Stuff….and mulled wine 😬😂🤦‍♀️

We were supposed to have our Charlie at the weekend - well, it’s not the weekend to be honest, as he always gets picked up early on Sunday morning. So it’s just a day really…with breakfast. If I was them I’d be making the most out of the ability to have a lie in and a chilled morning. They’re more “morning” people than me I think. Anyway, poor Charlie wasn’t too well, so there was no early game of football to help me wake up!

Righto folks, that’s the week wrapped up nicely. Tonight I’ll nip onto Janice’s live to say hello at 6pm, and then we have our regular live at 7pm. I look forward to seeing you this evening.

Take care folks xxx

Colouricious block printing trip to Jaipur

Eeeek, we’re off!

So excited. Myself and my chum Jenny are being tour leaders on this incredible journey. We will be visiting villages which make the blocks, seeing the masters at work, and doing workshops to learn the skills. Plus so much more besides.

I will pop photos on here, and let you know about our travels.

Before then I’ve been to see my gorgeous little nephew, who’s such a wonderful little boy. And of course I’ve been working, which is brill. I’ll share a few photos.

The workshops are all still all going ahead, we’ve got the next on in Guildford on the 17th, and then a joint workshop on the 18th, with the talented Anne Ruffles. That will be held in Rottingdean.

If you would like to join us, then please drop Mandy a line on: leoniepujol@hotmail.co.uk

Okay, loo break (to much info!! 😃)

Let me loose with some new stuff....

Wow, the suns proper out out isn’t it! Blinking boiling. And here I am, tucked away making Christmas cards! Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely not complaining. I’ve had a lovely weekend with my other half and my little nephew, Charlie. It’s a mixture of happiness and deep sadness, seeing my beautiful sister in his little eyes. Knowing what we have lost, but also acknowledging the joy he brings us all.

So, I’ve had my time in the sun, and now it’s cracking on with work. I don’t often make a big deal of the amazing stuff I’m lucky enough to work with on my shows....but you know, I could!! From tv firsts with the incredible carabelle. Launching brand new ranges from amazing people like our very own Mama Makes. Bringing the brand new collections from the mighty Graphic 45....it’s not bad is it. And this week we have a brand new company to Hochanda. On my show. The first time we have brought a collection, well, two collections, from My Minds Eye. And they are stunning. Really exceptional quality. Great designs. So easy to work with. It’s a privilege to share these goodies with you.

So, the sun maybe shining, but I’m working with My Mind’s Eye, so crack those flags Mr Sunshine, I’m happy enough indoors 😊

Up coming workshop....Rottingdean here we come

This coming weekend we have a double whammy. We are off to Guildford for a workshop, and then doing a joint workshop in our local haunt, Rottingdean.

The Rottingdean workshop will be a little different as we are joining forces with the incredibly talented Anne Ruffles. You may have seen Anne’s work on TV, but if not, have a look at these photos, she is fantastic, and will be sharing her passion, tips and techniques with us, and teaching us the art of zentangle. Anne will be running the mornings workshop, and I’ll be doing my thing in the afternoon (new stuff!).

We wanted to introduce Anne to you, so here’s a little more about her background in zentangle:
“I was trained as a Certificated Zentangle Teacher (CZT) by the founders, Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, in Providence, Rhode Island, USA, in 2016.
Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, fun and very relaxing way to use structured patterns to create beautiful pieces of art. ‘Its basically using the shapes I, C, S and O. What could be more simple!
It can take from just 15 minutes, if that is all the time you have to spare, or for as long as you like.

The Zentangle Method focusses , not on the outcome, but on the process. It inspires creativity. It is a great reliever of stress and enables you to lose yourself in the process, thus shifting your thoughts without even trying.

Zentangle is a very portable art.

As part of the cost of the workshop I supply all the basic tools and cards that you will need to start you off. These come in a neat little drawstring bag, which can be popped into your handbag and taken anywhere.

Mine goes everywhere with me.

During the workshop you will learn about the Zentangle Method, learn some basic tangles and use these to create your own pieces of art. There will be ‘How to’ worksheets with lists of suppliers and useful websites etc to look at as well as samples of my own work. I’ll also show you how to turn tangling into
Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA)that I use when I’m making my samples as a Claritystamp design team member.

Do come and join in with the fun! Anne xx”

I’m really excited to be learning this incredible art form, and hope you can come along and join us. For more information, and to book your place simply email leoniepujol@hotmail.co.uk or ring us on 07517047611.

More photos from the NEC

It was ages ago now wasn’t it.... well t’other week at any rate, but I’ve still got stuff I want to share from the NEC...there was a lot to see. Sadly we didn’t manage to see half the stalls on the sewing side of the hall, which I was really gutted about. The small amount we did see was so inspiring, incredible work. So, for those of you who also didn’t get chance to see the creations, here’s a few pics:

This piece was created by Anne Brooke. She’s called it Harold, and her inspiration was the wonderful watership down. It’s a collage of up-cycled papers, with machine embroidery and hand stitching

Look at the work that has gone into this! Incredible. The artist is Georgina Bellamy, and she has called her piece The Bandar-Log. Her inspiration was the Jungle Book. This is goldwork in 3D.

I loved the colour and texture of this piece. It was created by Margaret Charlton, and she has called her work Willow Patterns. It’s a combination of printing, stencilling, collage with hand stitching using machine threads

I love this. The artist is Amanda Wright, and she’s called her work Hope. She has used hand embroidery using 2 ply machine knitting wools and cottons onto canvas backed with bonding lining

I’d love to have something like this in my home. It’s so interesting to look at. The work has been created by Cas Holmes, and is called Edges of Australia. It has been created in scroll form, and she has used materials flounder or given to her on her travels around Australia. It’s a combination of drawings, found cloth, paint, gathered ephemera, machine and hand stitching.

And finally, can you believe this has been made mainly of French knots! Seriously. How cool is that. The artist is Janet Payne, and it’s called Celebration.

So sad we didn’t get chance to see the rest of the work on display, or take more photos. I think you can tell just from the few I’ve shared here, the calibur of work in display. Next year, there’s no way I’m missing anything !

Workshops - where are we next?

Workshops are well and truly well under way now. It’s really exciting travelling around to new places and meeting loads of new people. We hope to travel a little further afield eventually, but for now we are trying to stay relatively close to home.....which is lovely for me, I do miss not being at home.

The dates we have coming up next are:
22nd April - Hastings
6th May - Guildford
17th June - Tunbridge Wells

We do have more booked - but I thought I’d share the closest dates for now.

If you would like further information please ring or email Mandy, who will be more than happy to help. The details are:
Leoniepujol@hotmail.co.uk

We would love to see you. We will be doing a mixed media piece, and also playing with powertex, which has been everyone’s favourite so far. The results have been fantastic. I’ll share a few here, just in case you’ve missed some of my previous posts

Chichester- you were brill!

Thank you so much to the lovely ladies who joined myself and Mandy at the weekend in Chichester. The venue was a smashing find by Mandy. Really airy and light, perfect.
Mandy set our little shop up, whilst I got covered in Powertex, ink, paint...you know the score!

We worked on our journal page, using a variety of products to give it a real mixed media look. We incorporated Stamperia rice paper, the super cool Tim Holtz Distress Crayons, paints, ink spritzers, stencils, Pentart fibre paste....and the kitchen sink!!

I love projects like this, as everyone produced something completely different.

We also covered our Happy Cow book with Powertex, and created a cool book cover. I’m happy to say folk joined in and felt the Powertex under their nails!! (It washes off....environmentally friendly, water soluable and non toxic...boom, got it ladies!).

I always let folk choose their own colour palette, so each piece is unique and interesting. I’m really chuft with the results.

We will be repeating this workshop, next stop is going to be 22nd April in Hastings. All materials are provided, along with brews and biscuits...we hope you can join us xx
