Sorry, another quick post! We have been on a short break. It was fab. Went away in the camper, with the doggies, and ended up on the South Downs. The weather was perfect. Did a huge walk (which still didn't tire out the dogs!! It's not fair), chilled out over looking the fabulous landscape. Went to the beach, Nicky had a swim (fool....), whilst me and the dogs looked on. It confuses Dylan when Nicky is in the sea, he just doesn't get it. Even got a bit of History at Battle.
There are so many wonderful places to visit in this country, and having the freedom of the camper means we could just pitch where ever we fancied, and then set off the following day. We were really lucky with our spots, and what a cheap as chips holiday. Tremendous. I was inspired to do a range of stamps, so need to get sketching (forgot our camera though - duhhhh).
Tomorrow I need to fly round all the art museums for my Uni project, then we are visiting Nicky's nan, so no card making, ATC's or ought! How rude. Sorry. Will definitely be back in full flow, as Dawn has a full trend week - so back to full sticky heaven!
Don't worry, have planned my workshop on the 19th, so I will be organised. Paying the deposit for the hall tomorrow, so we will even have somewhere to work! Hooray.
Also, the plans for the MacMillan Coffee and Wine evening are getting there - Carley has managed to get an ad in the paper, so it should be a good turn out. We are going to organise a raffle as well, so I'll have to get begging folk for prezzies!
Okay, need a shower and pack again! Phew.....xxxx

Dawn Bibby's Design Studio
Thought I'd pop in the full title, as I don't write it often as I always presume everyone knows our Dawn - so therefore I don't need to add a title - but as promised I'll pop on some photo's from my demo at Dawn Bibby's Design Studio last weekend, and a little waffle on how I achieved the results. Phew, isn't it warm - been baking in my room today (I'm not complaining!!).
Okaydokay, photo's:
This first card has been made using the Smooch inks for the background as well as directly on the stamp. Now the backgrounds are really easy to achieve, and fun (not to mention messy if your like me!). First take a piece of non-coated card stock, the Smooch do not dry on coated card. Spritz the card with water, completely soaking it. Take a sponge (any old sponge, preferably not with bits of soap still in it however) and apply some of the Smooch ink to the sponge. If you wish to create a frame then simply lightly place one finger in the centre of the card, then dab the ink around the edges of the wet card, you will see the inks spread and flow beautifully towards the centre of the card. When the ink becomes lighter, re-apply more Smooch ink to the sponge, and continue until your happy with the colours. You can add different colours, or more water if you want the ink to spread more. I like to leave mine to dry naturally, as this will capture some of the movement of the ink - but you can dry it with a heat gun if you are in a rush.
To stamp with the Smooch ink, simply apply the inks directly from the bottle using the lovely directional tip, to the stamp. Apply a couple of colours, I'm rather hap-hazard with this technique, and stamp. Some stamps will suit this technique more than others - try more solid stamps as opposed to outline images. If your a tight crafter like me, then you can try to very lightly spritz the stamp before cleaning off the ink, and stamping again. As the Smooch is water soluble it will water down and you may get another image!
For this card I used the same technique to get the background, but rather than creating a frame, I covered the whole card. When it was dry, I overstamped using Vivid Ink Pads, which give a strong colour. Finish using the Smooch inks to paint with, as this will give a more intense colour, and show the wonderful pearlescent sheen of the paints.
Again, working the inks to create frames, then overstamping with the Vivid Ink Pads. The bird has then been coloured with the purple smooch. I like being able to use the inks as a background and then to highlight and colour my focal feature, this ties in the colours and gives you more options with your ink.
Unfortunately I didn't take any photo's of a solid background which can be achieved with the Smooch inks. Take a re-inker for your embossing pad, and smear a little of the fluid over your un-coated card stock. This will allow the inks to glide over the card stock. Pick up some of the Smooch ink with your finger and glide it over the card. Again mix and match your colours. If you want a smooth surface, gently brush over with a sponge or brush. I obviously recommend doing it with your finger as it will add texture and depth (and it's more fun!).
Well, I thought I'd got more photo's than that - next time!

QVC cards
Okay, shouldn't be messing about on here as it's abit late and I'll be moaning about being tired tomorrow, but hey I've started so I'll finish. Had a great day today with our Craig - he's fab. I hope Dawn manages to make the most of the rest - and no chatting (Dawn, if you are reading!!). She did say (well, text) she was feeling abit better, so hopefully it won't get as bad as last time.
Anyhow, thought I'd pop on a few photo's from last weeks show. Also if you caught me today and want to look at the cards done with the embossed cards then just scan down to my older posts - I think they are on the 2nd July posting.
The first card has been done using canvas, which was part of a speciality paper kit. This is great for lots of card making techniques, as well as printing on. For this card I have simply stamped on the reverse of the canvas, gives you a lovely texture.
Again in the speciality paper selection, this one was the foil paper (although the same technique can be used on gloss/mirri/metal). Dead easy. Use peel off stickers to create a textured and patterned surface then use alcohol inks to colour the card and the peel offs. Makes a great background.
mmmmm, chocolate colour core card - almost as good as the real thing (chocolate that is). Easy scrapbook pages, ripping, tearing and sewing.
More chocolate, this time used in conjunction with the Slice to cut tags and frames. Scrunch and sand to get fab distressed looks.
I just wanna have a look at seed pages now, I can still sow stuff! How'd have thought! No - put the computer down.

Up North again
Well, my post is long overdue, but it's been so busy this has been my first opportunity to get on the computer (you can imagine what my emails look like - I've looked at them but came away again, just looks scary!).
A Makey Do was really good. Me and Ashley had a great day, completely different to normal crafty stuff that I do, so definitely something we are going to do again. We met some great people, including Jen who did a fantastic job organising the whole event. Well done Jen.
Then straight after that we had the wonderful Kanban TSV. Dawn got the day rolling and I was in for the morning show. The evening before we had a major gooseberry picking, which meant I went on air full of scratches and bites - looking good! Anyhow, I really like the characters from Patchwork Pals, they are so cute, and brill for everyone. Great TSV.
It was a long ole day, and then we worked from the hotel for the Wednesday show. The lovely Lindsay Mason came along to the hotel, love her cards, she's brilliant. She got ready for her TV debut, and then I had to leave so didn't see her show (cheesed off about that one). We had to get up North for Nicky's mums graduation, she was there in cap and gown and collected her Degree, she has done brilliant and everyone was really proud.
That's what we've been up to, so sorry for the delays in the ATC club and getting back to people who have emailed - I'm hoping to catch up (mmmmmm).
In the meantime here's some pics of a few of the cards I did for this week:
I had the chocolate colour core pad to play with, I used it with die cuts, scrunched up the card and stencils. Love it. It's my fav as I'm really into brown card at the mo, so found it dead easy to work with:
Also played with the clear background stamps, which were also really cool. For this card I stamped on a patterned background paper with corresponding ink (using a clear block so I could see where I was stamping to make a continuous image), then just outlined part of the image with a white gel pen, dead easy but so effective.
I'll pop some more on during the next few days. ttfn xxx

Back home....
from our weekend retreat crafting like little crafty critters. Had a great weekend. It was busy as usual, the sun shone, and I think everyone had a good time. I got to play with the new Smooch inks (mmmmmmmm, nice), and get abit messy as usual. Lovely seeing the Topaz totty again (thinking of you having a giggle at that one Debs!), it's great catching up with everyone, I get really excited and talk to much as soon as I get in the room.
Dawn's shop looked fab, really wanted to spend, but didn't have time for any of that shopping malarky!
Obviously took my camera, but did I remember to take photo's!! I'm rubbish.
It was great to see so many familiar faces who actually came to the event as well, and of course to meet so many new people.
Well, back home, bit worn out and my phone has now decided to go on the blink, it's refusing to charge up. Funny isn't it, how life without a mobile is almost unthinkable - I never even know what time it is! Need to put batteries in my clock now! My new car is really cute, and small! Think the dogs are abit disgrumpled - they can't stretch out the same to sleep on the way home - well Teela manages to but poor Dylan.
Righto, better get organised, back to QVC tomorrow so I'm having a nice early night to try and catch up on those missed zzzzzzzzz's.

Ready for the weekend???
I'm not!!! Got to do my Uni presentation tomorrow, and the Wallace and Gromit animation I did has disappeared!! Gone I tell you. I'm sick as a dead parrot. What the hell have I done! I presumed it was okay, it seemed okay when I downloaded it and saved it - but oh no, it's gone!
Sick.
Anyhow, it's now stupid o'clock again, I have to go to Uni, come home, pick up the car and dogs then hit the road (lots of twoing and froing). Hopefully I won't get up North to late so I can have a bit of a chill before the crafting begins!
Looking forward to the weekend at least, be lovely seeing all the Topaz Totty, Paula and of course the Crafty Clan who are coming along to join us on Dawn's residential.
I'll have cheered up by then, promise. Won't be snapping if you use to much micro dots, or stick your paper on up-side down! haha.

Papercraft and cardmaking
Hi folks, well I'm on the cover of a magazine!! Wow, check out Papercraft and Card Making, I've done an ATC article - which I really enjoyed doing. Looking forward to seeing it in print (real life!). It was funny, I was just checking out the crafty mags in WH Smith when I saw myself!! Scary......nah it's really exciting, I even called Nicky and made him come up to the shop just to show him!! As usual I forgot what month I was in, so wasn't expecting to see my mug on the shelves.
There's alot of Christmas Crafters out there - Mondays show was so busy!! How organised can you get, certainly something I'll never achieve! It was good, and went so quickly. Next week it's TSV time again, then I'm up North for Dawns residential (got to figure out what I'm doing yet!).
Apart from crafting I've upped the anty on my obsessive bird feeding - it's so cute. The starlings and sparrows are bringing their babies to the feeders and feeding them! They are so cute and fluffy. I've spent far to much time watching them and trying to film them today (actually, got a really annoying habit of thinking I'm filming, but then when I come to pause it realise I haven't turned it on). Wonder if the pigeons will bring their little fluffy things? I'm hoping the neighbourhood cats have got the hint and stopped prowling my garden - it'd be awful if they started hunting the chicks. Do you know 65 million birds are killed by cats each year! I love cats, but they need to be kept in at night, or wear a collar with a bell, especially at this time of year.
Think the blackbirds are feeding their young, they are becoming really demanding for their raisins - Nicky found the female wondering up the hallway (which meant she'd already gone through the kitchen!). Wonder if she could smell the bird food stash.
Nicky has his exam tomorrow for the end of his first year at Uni - gulp. Hope it goes well, I'm sure it will. Fingers and toes crossed.

Yesterday.......
was a good day - a short TSV day (hooray), all up for more of those! It was good to see Dawn and JJ, they were looking well and rested after their hols. The suns a good tonic isn't it - it must be the vitamin A (or is it D), well I dunno, but it just makes you feel better.
Anyhow, we had a good catch up, and good crafty shows. And just to make all you crafty chaps and chapess jealous, I get to keep my slice - hooray! Nicky recons I'll pop it somewhere safe and forget I've got it (he has the inside information relating to the state of my craft room). Actually, this one will stay close at hand, I like the fact it's nice and small so easy to just grab when you need it. I was double handed cutting in studio - with JJ trying to put a camera up my nose which lead directly to a monitor - urgh!!!
We had a look for cars today - we're mighty taken by the little C1's by Citroen, they are so diddy you can just pop them in your pocket. I'm really looking forward to a car that I can park dead easy, and will only cost me £7 to get into work!!! Can you believe it.........they're so cheap, and Eco friendly (will that off-set the uneconomical and earth polluting camper van??).
Was going to pop on a few photo's, but I'm really sleepy, so just going to finish watching my programme (Big Art, anyone been watching it - it's great), then off to bed for me - maybe tomorrow.

Dawn's Blog
Almost forgot, before I log off for the evening, have you checked out Dawn Bibby's blog (always feel silly putting Dawn's full name - I'm sure you all know who I mean, but just in case.....), anyhow, they are collecting cards to send to the boys out in Afghanistan, and also Rena is on the way to try and organise some kind of fund raising for injured soliders coming home, it's definately a worthy cause so have a look what's going on and put your crafting to more good uses (I'm sure you already do so much already!).

Skiving!!
No I'm not skiving - honest!! I'm not in QVC tomorrow with Dawn and the gang, it's Friday so got lots of other stuff to do I'm afraid. Sitting here having a nosey at them on telly instead. I recon I could do with about 20 sets of the storage boxes- love storage, they are fab.
Anyhow, it's been ages since I've written. Had a great time at Dawn's demo weekend, saw loads of familiar faces - I really do enjoy visiting the Studio. We were actually at the Mill, awww, old days. Seemed strange not having the shop to nip to, and didn't even manage to visit the studio!! We were all busy bee's. A big hello and thank you to everyone who came and said hello - especially Joanne, you lovely lady, and her hubby of course. Already planted some of my carrots - they are starting to raise their little heads! Awww.
What else has been going on - man I can't even remember. Had a realllllly good hot chocolate today - there has been more, but it was a particularly good hot choc! We stayed in Brighton last night - we bought a cheap camper van (its hilarious - massive! It takes me two hands to try and heave the stearing wheel to get round a corner, mmmmmm no driving for me then - shame!!). It was good fun, and it's great having room in the van rather than falling over each other and making a nasty mess whilst chopping the onions.
Did I tell you when I was driving into QVC on Tuesday - I realised I hadn't packed my trolley (with all the craft stuff in it!!). So had to turn around and drive home! How sick was I, I'd actually got up and set off on time, even taken getting petrol into account in my schedule! Plus, it was an early 6am start, so I was amazed I got out of bed. Anyhow, drove home, opened the boot, and there were my bags!! No way. Nicky had packed the car for me. I was really happy with him for that, just wish I'd checked before I left the house.
There has to be a whoops moment now and again eh. Hey, Sarah's kits on telly, I worked on this one! Hooray. It's still funny watching your cards on telly - I'm going to have to watch this one eh!
Drove home with 10 bags of manure in the van today - this must mean we are true allotmenters now eh.
Angelina is really easy to punch with (Dawn's showing it now, just in case you don't know what I'm talking about), first time I'd tried it. Make a thicker sheet than normal, and thats it! Punch through. Looks great. Also enjoyed using it with the melting pot to make necklaces. Dawn hasn't showed my favourite one - never enough time to show everything is there. Well done Sarah, really easy to follow DVD with some nice new idea's.
Right, seen a couple of my cards so off to bed!! Haha, only joking I wasn't stopping up just to watch my own cards. Happy Birthday to JJ by the way - in case you pop on here!

Anyhow, drove home, opened the boot, and there were my bags!! No way. Nicky had packed the car for me. I was really happy with him for that, just wish I'd checked before I left the house.
There has to be a whoops moment now and again eh. Hey, Sarah's kits on telly, I worked on this one! Hooray. It's still funny watching your cards on telly - I'm going to have to watch this one eh!
Drove home with 10 bags of manure in the van today - this must mean we are true allotmenters now eh.
Angelina is really easy to punch with (Dawn's showing it now, just in case you don't know what I'm talking about), first time I'd tried it. Make a thicker sheet than normal, and thats it! Punch through. Looks great. Also enjoyed using it with the melting pot to make necklaces. Dawn hasn't showed my favourite one - never enough time to show everything is there. Well done Sarah, really easy to follow DVD with some nice new idea's.
Right, seen a couple of my cards so off to bed!! Haha, only joking I wasn't stopping up just to watch my own cards. Happy Birthday to JJ by the way - in case you pop on here!

The Joy of Driving
I'm a little cheesed off today. Had to get my car out of the garage early (lots of work needed for it's MOT), to get into work - I was going to get the train but guess how much it would have cost.......nope all wrong guesses I'm afraid - it would have cost me £46.20!!! Can you believe it, that's half my wage for doing the damn show! I'm disgusted. Apparently we're trying to be greener and cut down the congestion in London - so we'll make the trains to expensive to travel on. Isn't that a scandal. Off peak it's £23, so the same as petrol, but peak is just robbery. Plus of course you have all the hassle of changing twice. Huh. So, I drove in my dodgy car, which I have had to drop back off at the garage, which will mean I'll miss Uni tomorrow. Really unhappy about that - it's our last day before the Easter holidays, so really wanted to go in. Unfortunately it's not worth getting the train to Uni then home, then driving up North - it'll be much to late, and I'll be shattered. Grrrr.....
Anyway, enough of my complainin' - and crack on to make cards for Tuesday's show. Thought I'd try and pop some photo's on of the cards from TSV day, but they are abit rubbish quality images I'm afraid - I've put them on the Flickr site anyway if you fancy a peak.
Doubt I'll be on again before the demo weekend - so look forward to seeing some of you there (that's if the car does get fixed!! fingers crossed).

Pass the Word.........
Charity Auction - the final fling!!
Saturday running from 9am - 9pm to give everyone a fighting chance.
The auction will be for photographs and card signed by (and of) Dawn Bibby, JJ, myself, Catherine Huntley, Anna Griffin, Amy Shaw, Rosemary and Nigel Merry, Donna Dewberry, Carol Smith, Kirsty Wiseman and last (but absolutely by no means least) our lovely Clare Curd. Phew. Now Rosemary and Nigel did scarper before I managed to grab them to sign the card, but I have got photo's of them (not running out of the building!!).
I will be asking people to place their bid on my blog - so you will be able to see them as they are posted, and know what you are up against! All you need to do is leave a comment in the normal way, with your bid. Keep checking the comments to see if you are winning. Sounds easy - fingers crossed it goes as smooth as it sounds, gulp.
I'll be reminding everyone before the games begin, and don't worry, I will be getting the pictures printed properly, not doing them myself (my blue's not working so everyone would have weird liney heads!).

Halliwells Corporate Challenge
Me being me, I'm running a little late and having problems trying to get my forms set up for my Corporate Challenge.
First, what am I talking about. Well, it's a challenge to raise money for the Princes Trust, please have a look at:

I am raising money craftily, of course. Firstly I need to say a huge thank you to Kathy and everyone from Personal Impressions, who have been fantastic at putting together lots of goodies to auction off.
Soooooo, there will be goodies on sale. This will be by way of auction, I'll let you know when they are up for grabs. Everything is new, in brilliant condition and quality kit, nowt shoddy. In fact I've not wanted to let you have it, but I'm not being greedy, it's for charity after all.
I have also put together a collection of photo's of some crafty folk (Dawn, Rosemary and Nigel, Anna Griffin, Amy, Donna Dewberry, Carol Smith, Catherine Huntley, Clare Curd, Kirsty Wiseman and crafty bloke JJ!) who have also signed a card which will also be auctioned.
To set the ball rolling I have put together a few kits. I have designed some cards, nice and easy, which I have photographed and have made into easy to follow card kits with full instructions, tips and advice. The kits will make 3 cards, not all the components will be identical to the picture, but they will make the same card design. I have tried to keep the kits at a reasonable price, but had to take into account that I do need to raise some dosh! All the proceeds will go to the Princes Trust (apart from the postage of course). To complete the cards you will need adhesive and scissors or a paper trimmer.
Right all that said I'd better pop on the first kits, calls for a new post.

Not today..
am I going to load pics of my lovely Birthday cards, sorry, but has taken yonks to load the photo's for this weeks challenge - what's going on!!! Very annoying. I'll do it next week though.
I hope I will see some of you at the weekend. I am with Lindsay Mason and Michelle Saxon (just to name drop) at ESK in Eastbourne. I've printed off my directions and made a few ATC's ready to trade, so feel kinda organised (even ironed my trousers).
I have also organised dates for my first workshops in an age. The first ones will be in Dawn's new and posh studio (looking forward to it, not done a workshop there yet). I'm doing a ATC meet and greet in the morning, so a perfect time for people to come and trade, see other people's ATC collections, and I will bring ATC's that I have received - so plenty of idea's to be had. In the afternoon I'm doing an ATC card workshop, with techniques which are perfect for cardmaking as well of course. Got plenty of idea's, so now it's putting it all together.
On the Sunday I will be doing a card making workshop, again with techniques you can use for your ATC's!
Once I start Uni and get my term dates, I will be able to plan my workshops down South as well, to be held in Greenwich and Canterbury. All these plans......gulp.
I'll keep everyone posted.
